Job summary

Anchorage Neighborhood Health Center is seeking a laboratory assistant to perform phlebotomy and routine testing across hematology, chemistry, urinalysis, and immunology under supervision.

The role includes specimen collection, results documentation, and quality assurance, along with billing procedures and daily use of the lab information system. A high school diploma or equivalent is required; advanced phlebotomy or lab training is preferred. This is an on-site position in Anchorage.

Qualifications

• Work Experience: Documentation of in-house training is required before employees are permitted to perform laboratory procedures without direct supervision.
• Education, Certification and Licensure: High school graduate or equivalent, preferred. Advanced training certificate from an accredited school in clinical laboratory pract

Responsibilities

• Phlebotomy: venipuncture procedures including patient preparation, specimen collection, and processing procedures.
• Laboratory Analysis: accurate specimen testing, evaluation of results, documentation, and quality assurance.
• Instrument Maintenance: quality control, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting problems.
• Record Maintenance: test requisition processing, billing, QA, reporting and documentation.
• Billing: accurate billing procedures and understanding payor sources.
• Computer/Phones/FAX/Copier/Printer: access patient information and operate devices.
• Supply Inventory: identify shortages and order supplies; label and dispose expired items.
• Information Technology: use lab information system and daily IT tasks.
