Trinity Health Minot Laboratory is seeking a Lab Assistant to perform phlebotomy, specimen processing, and rotating support tasks. The role ensures accurate collection, labeling, handling, and preparation of specimens to support high-quality diagnostic testing across the health system.
The position requires a high school diploma (or equivalent) with 1 year of phlebotomy or lab assistant experience preferred, and works in an evenings shift within the hospital environment.

The Lab Assistant supports essential operations within the clinical laboratory by performing phlebotomy, specimen processing, and a variety of rotating workflow tasks. This role ensures accurate collection, labeling, handling, and preparation of specimens to support high‑quality diagnostic testing across the health system. Working within a collaborative laboratory environment, the Lab Assistant coordinates effectively with laboratory professionals and clinical staff to support timely turnaround of results. Responsibilities also include assisting with send‑out coordination, inventory maintenance, and communication with care teams, while consistently upholding patient safety, confidentiality, and regulatory standards in all aspects of laboratory support.
The role requires frequent standing, walking, and repetitive hand movements associated with phlebotomy and specimen handling. The Lab Assistant may need to bend, reach, and lift light to moderate supplies or specimen containers throughout the shift. Sufficient vision, hearing, and manual dexterity are essential for identifying specimens, operating laboratory equipment, and ensuring precision during collection and preparation tasks.
Work takes place in a clinical laboratory and patient care areas, with regular exposure to biological specimens, laboratory reagents, and equipment. The role may involve contact with blood and body fluids, requiring strict adherence to infection control practices, PPE use, and safety protocols. The work environment may include moderate noise, time‑sensitive tasks, and periods of high testing volume requiring sustained attention to detail.
