Join the MercyOne Family! We are looking to hire a Lab Assistant for Waverly Family Medicine.
As a Lab Assistant at MercyOne, you will greets patients, order lab work, and collect and process specimens for analysis by the clinical laboratory staff. Adheres to MercyOne's performance expectations and performs all defined services and other related duties in accordance with the mission, vision and values of MercyOne.
Greets patient and takes order forms.
If patient is a series patient, handles paperwork and computer work correctly to include initial visit and subsequent visits.
Assures order form is complete, checking for patient name, diagnosis, tests ordered and physician signature.
Verifies all pre-analytical conditions for testing are met.
Correctly accessions tests ordered, chooses correct account number, enters correct ordering physician and includes all other pertinent comments associated with the order.
Ensures delivery of lab reports to appropriate areas.
Receives various STAT blood samples and Home Health samples and handles appropriately.
Understands general registration procedures including why and when new account numbers need to be assigned.
Identifies problems and works to resolve appropriately.
Maintains a clean and organized work area.
Schedule:
Full Time Monday - Friday Day Shift
General Requirements:
Previous phlebotomy experience is preferred.
Education:
High School or Equivalent (GED)
