Business: Boys Town National Research Hospital

Job Summary:

In this role as a Sleep Lab Assistant, you will provide direct patient care under supervision, operating sophisticated medical equipment to record sleep/wake stages, respiratory, cardiac, limb movements, and other clinical events. You will participate in developing and implementing departmental policies, procedures, and quality assurance programs.

Schedule:

Full-Time, three 12-hour shifts from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM.

Locations:

West Hospital

Major Responsibilities & Duties:
  1. Assist in assessment and evaluation of diagnostic testing suitability based on patient age and abilities, communicating data to physicians.
  2. Initiate and monitor overnight testing in accordance with the American Academy of Sleep Medicine guidelines.
  3. Maintain professional communication with patients, visitors, and staff, upholding confidentiality.
  4. Contribute to quality assurance programs and follow departmental protocols.
  5. Document and perform duties in line with hospital policies.
  6. Engage in ongoing professional development and fulfill education requirements.
  7. Participate in safety, security, and infection control programs.
  8. Adhere to safety and infection control policies.
  9. Make entries in the medical record within the scope of your duties and licensure.
  10. Provide patient care and education tailored to the patient population.
Required Qualifications:
  1. Enrolled in or enrolling within one month in a STAR-designated self-study program for polysomnography.
  2. BLS certification.
