Job Title: Lab Assistant

Location: Indianapolis, IN

Duration: 6-month contract

Work Type: Onsite

Shift/Time Zone: Dayshift - Mon-Fri, 3AM-11:30AM, rotating weekends, Eastern Time Zone

Job Description:

Perform routine laboratory activities accurately to support laboratory staff and facilitate production.

Responsibilities:

1. Sort and receive specimens.
2. Perform routine instrument maintenance.
3. Handle tasks such as centrifuging specimens, printing labels, recording data, and storing/retrieving specimens.
4. Prepare reagents and media.
5. Prepare specimens for testing, including building worklists, aliquoting, checking for clots, inoculation, and slide preparation.
6. Perform QA/QC duties and resolve pending lists.
7. Identify missing samples and decontaminate work areas.
8. Conduct weekly radioactive wipe tests.
9. Maintain departmental records and change gas cylinders.
10. Follow PPE and safety regulations.
11. Operate laboratory computer systems and PCs.
12. Dispose of biohazardous waste.
13. Complete training and competency assessments.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent; medical assistant training and science courses preferred.
• No work experience required.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, retain information, and interact courteously with colleagues and clients.
