The laboratories of IU Health offer some of the most comprehensive laboratory services in Indiana, operating 24/7 and performing over 19 million tests annually. Laboratory testing services are also provided to hospitals and physicians nationwide.

Shift and Hours

Full-Time, Days
Hours: 9:15 am - 5:45 pm, Monday to Friday, with rotating Saturdays (6:45 am - 1:15 pm).

Responsibilities

The Phlebotomist provides general laboratory services, including specimen collection via venipuncture, order entry, blood component preparation, pre-analytic processing, and related clerical tasks such as entering orders, answering phones, and managing faxes. Responsibilities may also include patient and specimen registration and specimen delivery. The ideal candidate will have strong customer service skills and be highly compassionate.

Minimum Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Completion of a phlebotomy training program; laboratory experience or coursework in biological, chemical, or related sciences preferred.
  • Valid Indiana driver's license and a good driving record over the past three years may be required.
  • Understanding of traffic laws in Indiana may be necessary.
  • Proven computer skills.
  • Excellent telephone skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.
