Job summary

Gene By Gene, Ltd. in Houston is seeking an Accessioning Clerk to support sample receipt, check-in, and other clerical and operations functions within the laboratory.

You will document samples in the LAB databases, open and inspect packages, route specimens, and help with data entry, filing, and routine lab tasks while maintaining patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance. The role requires high attention to detail and the ability to work independently after training in a fast-paced

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Prior experience in a laboratory, medical, or high-volume data entry environment preferred.
• Strong data-entry and typing skills with speed and accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Receive and document sample receipts into the laboratory system.
• Open sample packages, inspect, sort, and route samples appropriately.
• Document and check samples into the correct databases.
• Troubleshoot issues with samples (e.g., missing or mismatched information).
• Maintain documentation for sample tracking.
• Assist with pickup of samples from USPS.
• Answer emails and questions from other departments.
• Scan and file received documents.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the team area.
• Assist with basic laboratory assistant tasks (rack tips, fill tubes, wash racks).
