Job summary

Matlen Silver is seeking an experienced L2/L3 Batch Support Engineer to provide production support for enterprise applications and batch processing environments in Pennington, NJ. Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in production support, application support, batch support, or a related technology role.
• Hands-on experience providing L2/L3 production or batch support.
• Strong experience with batch job troubleshooting and scheduling.
• Experience with BOB/Quartz Scheduler or Autosys.
• Strong SQL skills, including the ability to write and troubleshoot complex queries.
• Experience using Python scripting for automation and operational support.
• Strong Linux experience in a production environment.
• Experience performing root cause analysis and troubleshooting complex production issues.
• Experience with enterprise monitoring/observability tools, such as Dynatrace, Splunk, ITRS Geneos or comparable platforms.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a production environment with time-sensitive incidents and competing priorities.

Responsibilities

• Provide L2/L3 production and batch support for enterprise applications and scheduled processes.
• Monitor batch processing and investigate failed, delayed, or incomplete jobs.
• Troubleshoot production issues and determine appropriate resolution or escalation paths.
• Perform detailed root cause analysis (RCA) for production incidents and recurring issues.
• Develop and maintain documentation, troubleshooting procedures, and knowledge articles.
• Write and execute complex SQL queries for data investigation, validation, troubleshooting, and issue resolution.
• Use Python scripting to automate repetitive operational tasks and improve production support processes.
• Monitor applications, batch processes, system health, and production environments using enterprise observability and monitoring tools.
• Participate in incident response, escalation, and resolution activities in accordance with ITIL processes.
• Support Incident Management and Problem Management, including investigation, documentation, and follow-up actions.
• Analyze application and system logs to identify errors, performance issues, and potential causes of failures.
• Work closely with application development, infrastructure, database, and business teams to resolve production issues.
• Communicate incident status, technical findings, impact, and resolution clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Identify opportunities to improve monitoring, automation, operational processes, and overall application stability.
• Participate in production releases, scheduled maintenance, and other operational activities as needed.
