Job summary

Meals on Wheels People is seeking a Kitchen and Utilities Assistant in Portland. You will support the Central Kitchen by preparing bakery items, packaging, and distributing meals while maintaining strict sanitation and safety standards.

Responsibilities include following recipes and production charts, delivering orders to centers, and assisting in loading and warehouse tasks. A HS diploma and Oregon Food Handler’s certificate (or ability to obtain) are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Oregon Food Handler’s certificate or ability to obtain within two weeks.
• Knowledge of safety, sanitation, and food handling procedures.

Responsibilities

• Assist Baker with production of bakery items for senior dining menus.
• Prepare food according to standardized recipes and production charts.
• Follow daily production charts and recipes.
• Ensure accurate food counts for shipments to contract locations.
• Maintain USDA-compliant quality, quantity, and portioning standards.
• Clean equipment, carriers, coolers, and loading areas daily.
• Deliver food and supplies to dining centers or accounts.
• Assist with loading products and carrier verification for orders.
• Support warehouse duties and freight orders as needed.
• Assist in the dishwasher area as required.
• Maintain high cleaning and sanitation standards.
• Cross-train into other Central Kitchen departments.
• Other duties as assigned.
