Senior Center Kitchen Assistant

Requirements

• Valid Oregon Food Handler's Card required and must be maintained throughout employment
• Must successfully pass a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening
• Current CPR/First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain certification within six months of hire
• Experience using Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel
• Ability to multitask and work independently with minimal supervision
• Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills
• Ability to communicate effectively with volunteers, coworkers, and the public
• Experience working in a commercial, institutional, school, community, or similar kitchen environment preferred
• Experience working with volunteers preferred

Job Duties

• Assist with food preparation according to approved menus and standardized recipes
• Assist with inventory management and maintenance of food storage areas
• Receive, unpack, label, store, date, and rotate food products and kitchen supplies
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen work areas, equipment, appliances, refrigerators, freezers, storage areas, and dishwashing stations
• Perform routine cleaning duties, including sweeping, mopping, sanitizing surfaces, cleaning equipment, and laundering kitchen linens
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health regulations
• Provide courteous and professional service to participants, volunteers, staff, and the public
• Work collaboratively with staff and volunteers to support daily meal service
• Frequently stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift or move items weighing up to 50 pounds
• Perform other duties as assigned

Schedule

• Full-Time
• Monday through Friday
• 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM (30-minute lunch) or 6:00 AM to 3:00 PM (1-hour lunch)

Pay Rate

• $18.00 per hour
