Job summary

Sonesta International Hotels is seeking a Kitchen Steward to support our culinary team by cleaning and sanitizing kitchenware and equipment across main kitchen, banquet, and cafeteria areas. You will follow safety standards, maintain storerooms, and assist with inventory and replenishment to ensure smooth kitchen operations.

The role requires physical stamina, basic math, reading, and ability to work nights, weekends or holidays as needed.

Qualifications

• Carrying or lifting items weighing up to 100 pounds.
• Standing up and moving about the kitchen or other designated areas.
• Handling chemicals, cleaning supplies and utensils.
• Bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, taking items on and off shelves.
• Communication with others and ability to follow instructions.
• Reading abilities used for chemical or machine labels or instructions.
• Basic mathematical skills for mixing chemical solutions.
• May be required to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays.

Responsibilities

• Set up workstation with dish machine, check chemical levels and gather setup equipment.
• Clean designated equipment and surfaces; dispose of kitchen substances properly.
• Check equipment condition and inform supervisor of hazards or threats.
• Empty trash, transport waste to dump sites and follow recycling regulations.
• Set up and monitor the pot sink; maintain cleanliness of floors and surfaces.
• Monitor chemicals and water temperature; ensure efficient work area organization.
• Promote teamwork and coordinate with Catering, Banquets, Outlets, Maintenance.
• Transport prepared food from kitchen to cafeteria and replenish stations as needed.
• Ensure adequate supplies of trays, dishes, utensils, napkins and condiments for hotel employees.
• Maintain clean and organized storerooms and secure access as needed.
• Order frequently used items per par levels; rotate stock using FIFO.
• Assist with other duties as assigned.
• May help with other duties as assigned.
