Job summary

McCalls Catering & Events is seeking a reliable Kitchen Steward to support busy kitchen and catering operations in San Francisco. You will keep kitchens and equipment clean and help with deliveries, stock handling, and general operations.

The role requires a strong work ethic, at least 1 year in a steward role, and flexibility for evenings, weekends, holidays, and early mornings. Vaccination is required; shifts are rotating including weekends and early mornings.

Qualifications

• A strong work ethic and dependable attitude.
• Minimum 1-year prior steward experience.
• Good teamwork and communication skills.
• The ability to follow instructions and safety procedures.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and early mornings.
• Constant standing and walking.
• Frequent lifting up to 15 lbs, occasionally up to 30 lbs, rarely up to 100 lbs (with assistance).
• Good attention to cleanliness, hygiene and organisation.

Responsibilities

• Wash and sanitise dishes, pots, pans, trays, and kitchen equipment.
• Keep floors, workstations, storage areas, and bathrooms clean.
• Remove rubbish and recycling safely and efficiently.
• Support with loading and unloading deliveries.
• Organise stock and supplies in designated storage areas.
• Assist with picking, packing, and moving products and materials.
• Help maintain a safe and hygienic working environment.
• Support colleagues and management where needed.
• Follow all company safety and food handling procedures.
• For team members driving company vehicles, responsibilities include safe driving practices, vehicle checks, and delivering correctly.

The Role

We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Kitchen Steward to join our team in San Francisco. This is a varied and fast-moving role where you will play an important part in supporting kitchen and catering operations.

As a Kitchen Steward, you will help keep kitchens, storage areas, equipment and workspaces clean, safe and organised. You will also assist with deliveries, stock handling, washing duties and general operational support.

No two shifts are the same. One moment you could be unloading deliveries and the next you could be helping prepare equipment for service. If you enjoy practical work and being part of a supportive team, this could be a fantastic fit.

This is an hourly position with rotating shifts, including weekends, early mornings, evenings and holidays depending on business needs.

The Person

To succeed as a Kitchen Steward you should have:

• A strong work ethic and dependable attitude
• Minimum 1-year prior steward experience

• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and early mornings
• Constant standing and walking
• Frequent lifting/pushing/pulling objects up to 10-15 lbs, occasionally lifting/pushing/pulling objects up to 30 lbs, rarely lifting/pushing/pulling objects up to 100 lbs (with assistance)
• Good attention to cleanliness, hygiene and organisation

This is an hourly post. Attendance will be required in line with the business requirements, including at weekends, holidays and in the early mornings as well as evenings, based on rotating scheduling.
