Job summary

Ko-Kwel Casino Resort is seeking a Kitchen Steward to keep kitchens spotless, organized, and stocked, supporting the culinary team with cleaning, stocking, and safe dishwasher operation.

Ideal candidates bring a friendly, safety‑minded attitude, ability to follow simple instructions, and willingness to work weekends, holidays, and evenings in a busy resort environment. Prior kitchen experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Friendly and approachable attitude that makes guests and team feel welcome.

• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Ability to present information one-on-one to employees.
• Ability to handle standard situations with few variables.
• Clear, positive communication with guests and teammates.
• Must pass Coquille Gaming Commission background check and drug-free workplace policies.

Responsibilities

• Keep space safe, clean, and friendly; report safety concerns to the Safety Committee.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of all food/beverage areas in the resort.
• Operate the main kitchen dishwasher safely and efficiently.
• Sanitarily scrape, clean, and store flatware, glasses, dishes, pots, and pans.
• Transport soiled dishes from stations to the dish staging area.
• Remove trash, recyclables, cardboard, and soiled linens from kitchen areas.
• Restock Employee Dining Room to ensure staff have what they need during meals.
• Use approved cleaning compounds to keep the kitchen safe and sanitary.
• Wipe tables, shelves, and stainless-steel surfaces; keep work areas spotless.
• Complete daily stewarding closing procedures and assigned cleaning tasks.
• Jump in to support the team and keep things running smoothly.

What you bring to the table

• Make sure the space stays safe, clean, and friendly for both guests and the rest of the team; speak up and report any safety concerns to the Safety Committee.
• Maintain the cleanliness and organization of all food and beverage areas throughout the resort.
• Operate the main kitchen dishwasher safely and efficiently.
• Sanitarily scrape, clean, and store flatware, glasses, dishes, pots, and pans.
• Transport soiled dishes and service ware from wait stations and serving areas to the dish staging area.
• Remove trash, recyclables, cardboard, and soiled linens from all kitchen areas.
• Restock the Employee Dining Room to ensure staff have what they need during meal periods.
• Use approved cleaning compounds and chemicals to keep the kitchen safe, sanitary, and guest-ready.
• Wipe down tables, shelves, and stainless-steel surfaces, keeping all work areas spotless.
• Complete daily stewarding closing procedures and any assigned cleaning tasks with care and consistency.
• Jump in where needed to support the team and keep things running smoothly. (Other duties as assigned)

• Comfortable communicating clearly and positively with both guests and teammates.
• Must pass and remain in compliance with Coquille Gaming Commission background check and drug free workplace policies.
