Responsibilities

• Supervise dish room and pot sink staff during shifts, assigning tasks to maintain efficient operations.
• Oversee dishwashing and pot sink functions; ensure dishes and equipment are clean, sanitized, stored and distributed.
• Monitor cleanliness and organization of dish room, pot sink, and related areas to meet sanitation and end-of-shift requirements.
• Train, coach, and support staff in equipment operation, safety procedures, sanitation standards, and department expectations.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation and workplace safety standards; address issues as needed.
• Operate dishwashing equipment, maintain chemical levels, report maintenance needs to management.
• Conduct regular inventories of dishware and related supplies; communicate shortages as needed.
• Provide supervision and operational support across Dining Services to meet staffing and departmental priorities.

Kitchen Porter Supervisor

Oversee dish room and pot sink operations during assigned shifts to ensure clean, sanitary, and adequately stocked dishware, utensils, cookware, and service equipment while maintaining compliance with safety and sanitation standards. Primarily assigned to the dish room, this position provides supervision and operational support throughout Dining Services as needed to meet staffing, safety, customer service, and departmental priorities.

This is a full-time, benefits eligible, hourly position with a hiring range of $20.00 - $22.99 per hour.

Core Responsibilities:

• Supervise dish room and pot sink staff during assigned shifts, assigning and adjusting responsibilities to maintain efficient operations and adequate staffing.
• Perform and oversee dishwashing and pot sink functions, ensuring dishes, glassware, utensils, cookware, and equipment are cleaned, sanitized, properly stored, and distributed.
• Monitor cleanliness and organization of the dish room, pot sink, mop room, and related work areas, ensuring all sanitation and end-of-shift cleaning requirements are met.
• Train, coach, and support staff in equipment operation, safety procedures, sanitation standards, and departmental expectations.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety standards; address concerns and take corrective action as needed.
• Operate and monitor dishwashing equipment, maintain appropriate chemical levels, and report maintenance or repair needs to management.
• Conduct regular inventories of dishware, utensils, and related supplies, communicating shortages and operational needs as appropriate.
• Provide supervision and operational support throughout Dining Services as needed to support staffing, workflow, customer service, and departmental priorities.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent experience preferred.
• Knowledge of sanitation requirements and dish room safety procedures.
• 1-2 years of dish room and supervisory experience preferred.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

Must be able to lift up to 60 lbs. on a daily basis, including lifting full milk crates into the cooler above waist level. Must be able to lift full glass racks and coffee racks above waist level. Must be able to push and pull 150 lbs. frequently. This job also requires frequent and repetitive overhead reaching and lifting, as well as standing for long periods of time. Also requires frequent and repetitive bending and twisting motions.
