Job summary

Middlebury College in Vermont seeks a Dining Servery Supervisor to coordinate meal service operations, staffing, setup, service delivery and cleanup. You will ensure accurate ingredient labeling, allergen identification, and safe dining practices while overseeing cashiering and end-of-day reconciliation.

The role requires evenings and one weekend day, with shift differentials; prior food service supervision and Serve Safe certification preferred.

Qualifications

• Direct checkers and swipe counts to track meal periods and crowd flow.

Job description

The Dining Servery Supervisor leads meal service operations by coordinating setup, staffing, service delivery, and cleanup activities within the servery and dish room. This position ensures accurate ingredient labeling and allergen identification, promotes an efficient and safe dining experience, and oversees cashiering functions, cash handling procedures, tender management, and end-of-day report reconciliation.

This is a full time, benefits eligible, hourly position with a hiring range of $21.91 - $26.09 per hour. This position will require evenings and one weekend day.
Shift differential is available for eligible shifts, are stackable, and can amount to a higher wage per hour.

- Weekend differential: an additional $1.00/hour
- Evening differential: an additional $1.50/hour

Core Responsibilities:

• Responsible for ingredient listing for the menu and salad bar items, including identifying and labeling indicated allergen information.
• Account of all cash and charge slips.Responsibly manage other tender types with charge cards and departmental charges at the end of each shift.
• Organize Dining Room Attendants to ensure that the dining area is properly stocked, staffed for each meal, and sees that mealtimes are strictly adhered to.Account for the start and finish times of employees.
• Organize breakdown and cleanup following each meal and at the end of each school break.
• Ensure Dining Room Attendants and Dish Room Staff are complying with sanitation guidelines and proper dress code.
• Ensure the building is locked, dining area is secured and supplies are properly stored following each meal.
• Responsible for the checker function to ensure that it is assigned to the correct meal period and facilitate the flow of students into the operation using the swipe program to capture an accurate count.
• Performs other services in dining area as requested.

• 1-2 years of previous food service and/or supervisory experience.
• Serve Safe certification required.Certificate from the Vermont State DLC to serve alcohol helpful. Will be asked to successfully complete these certifications upon hiring.
• Knowledge of food sanitation standards and be aware of safety procedures.
• Familiarity with slicing and serving equipment.
• Requires practice of proper health sanitation and good math skills, i.e. ability to make change.
• Computer experience to generate and adjust ingredients signs for display on the line.
• High school diploma or equivalent experience preferred.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

Must physically be able to lift 10-20 lbs. numerous times each day and up to 60 lbs. frequently, some items are lifted above waist level. Requires frequent and repetitive bending, reaching, twisting and turning. Requires frequent walking and long periods of time standing
