Job description

Overview:

Masa NY is seeking a Kitchen Manager to join our expanding team! The ideal candidate will demonstrate efficiency and attention to detail while overseeing a talented team. This role offers the opportunity to apply your experience and gain knowledge exclusive to a 3 Michelin-starred kitchen.

Primary Responsibilities Include, but are not Limited to:

Staff Management:
  • Interview and select candidates for BOH positions.
  • Supervise onboarding and monitor new staff, providing feedback.
  • Schedule staff, ensure coverage, and manage labor costs.
  • Coordinate with HR on staffing needs and time-off requests.
Monitoring Operations:
  • Inspect work areas for improvements.
  • Ensure proper resource allocation and oversee inventory and food costs.
  • Maintain inventory records and order supplies as needed.
  • Address operational inefficiencies and ensure adherence to service standards and health regulations.
Customer Service/Guest Experience:
  • Understand the menu to assist with expediting orders.
  • Implement steps of service and ensure staff provide courteous service.
  • Handle customer concerns promptly and escalate issues when necessary.
Training Employees:
  • Develop and implement training programs and materials.
  • Assist with onboarding and provide ongoing coaching and assessments.
  • Communicate performance expectations and document progress.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
  • 5+ years of kitchen management experience.
  • Food Handler’s License.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of NY health standards and labor laws.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, POS software.
  • Fluency in English.
