Position Summary

The Kitchen Manager is responsible for directing the day-to-day operation of the kitchen to ensure Opaa! standards are met and maintained, and the kitchen complies with all safety and health regulations.

Functions of the Job
Essential Functions
Production
  • Monitor food and food preparation to maintain quality standards for preparation, presentation, and sanitation.
  • Promote customer service by investigating and resolving food quality and service complaints.
  • Coordinate the preparation and daily transportation of meals to satellite buildings, where applicable.
Supervisory
  • Conduct daily safety and production meetings with kitchen staff.
  • Demonstrate and promote Opaa's Core Values and report concerns immediately.
  • Supervise kitchen staff, delegate workflow, and address personnel issues.
  • Train, cross-train, and certify all kitchen stations; perform any kitchen function as required.
  • Ensure cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and storage areas.
Compliance
  • Maintain compliance with recipes, menu plans, and obtain approval for menu changes.
  • Ensure adherence to timekeeping policies, HACCP, HHFKA, CACFP, and safety regulations; report issues promptly.
Administrative
  • Coordinate and submit food and supply orders.
  • Maintain accurate production records, inventory, participation counts, and logs.
  • Conduct tray counts, reconcile reports, and ensure meals are reimbursable.
  • Communicate regularly with the principal and attend management meetings.
Physical/Visual Activities or Demands

Frequent standing, walking, sitting, and lifting up to 25 pounds; exerting force over 60 pounds occasionally; specific vision abilities required.

Working Conditions

Inside and outside, exposure to moving parts, humid conditions, extreme heat, chemicals, cold, and loud noise levels.

Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma, GED, or relevant experience.

Skills: Reading, writing, basic math, reasoning, and familiarity with kitchen equipment. Valid Serve Safe Certification required.
