Tysons Corner Children's Center is looking for an experienced Kitchen Manager to join their team. In this multi-faceted position, the Kitchen Manager is responsible for overseeing limited kitchen responsibilities and supporting aspects of the classroom according to the company and overall guidelines and guidance from the classroom teacher. This position is responsible for sorting and distributing food; complying with Health Department and Licensing State regulations; and assisting the classroom teacher in implementing daily activities that are appropriate to the developmental needs of the children in the classroom. The Kitchen Manager is equally responsible for creating a warm, accepting classroom atmosphere that encourages the social, emotional and academic growth of all children enrolled in the program.

Duties

Follow Proper Hygiene techniques prior to any preparation and handling of food.

Sort and distribute snacks and lunch according to USDA standards.

Receive lunch from food caterer, verify with menu and record changes as needed, document temperature of food and count upon arrival, per state regulations, as well as package meal service materials for all rooms.

Monitor and readjust orders of food, complying with all food related safety standards and documenting results, sharing issues or violations to management as necessary.

Wash dishes, clean microwave and clean-up kitchen in compliance with local health codes and company standards. Use safe approved dishware for heating food items.

Label and keep food separate for those with allergies, and keep track of children's food allergies.

Classroom/Childcare Duties

Assist children as needed with feeding, toileting, and personal care as it applies to their appropriate stage of development.

Be responsive to the social, emotional, physical and cognitive needs of children and create a nurturing environment to promote children's self-concept.

Maintain sight and sound supervision of children at all times and never leave a child unattended for any reason.

Ensure the safety, well-being and security of all children at all times.

Assist in classrooms as needed and other duties as assigned regarding the well-being of the children.

Requirements

Must be 18 years of age.

Ability to listen to and interact with others (children, parents, coworkers, and Center management) in a professional manner.

Ability to communicate thoughts and ideas to staff, parents and children.

Willingness to continue training in ECE related topics and specifically in areas that will directly benefit the children in your care.

Ability to be an appropriate role model for children in the classroom. Ensure the behavior you demonstrate sets the tone for the expectations of the children in your care.

• Ability to be able to lift children weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to be able to make eye contact with children at their level.
• Ability to bend and move appropriately to interact with children during course of day.
