Position Summary

The Kitchen Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the kitchen to meet Opaa! standards and ensure compliance with safety and health regulations.

Functions of the Job
  1. Essential Functions Production
  • Monitor food quality, presentation, and sanitation standards.
  • Address and resolve food quality and service complaints to promote customer satisfaction.
  • Coordinate meal preparation and transportation to satellite locations, if applicable.
  1. Supervisory
  • Conduct safety and production meetings with kitchen staff.
  • Promote Opaa’s Core Values and report concerns to the DNS.
  • Supervise, delegate, and train kitchen staff, ensuring readiness to perform all kitchen functions.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and storage areas.
  1. Compliance
  • Ensure adherence to recipes, menu plans, and obtain menu change approvals.
  • Maintain compliance with timekeeping policies, HACCP, HHFKA, CACFP, and safety procedures.
  • Report safety issues promptly.
  1. Administrative
  • Manage food and supply orders, inventory, and record-keeping.
  • Oversee participation counts, meal counts, and ensure meals are reimbursable.
  • Communicate regularly with school administration and participate in meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical/Visual Activities and Demands

Frequent standing, walking, lifting up to 25 pounds, and other physical activities are required. Vision abilities include focus, depth perception, and color vision.

Working Conditions

Work occurs inside and outside, often around moving equipment, with exposure to humid conditions, heat, chemicals, and loud noise.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma, GED, or relevant experience.
  • Ability to read, write, present, and perform basic math.
  • Ability to apply common sense and deal with standardized problems.
  • Serve Safe Certification required; additional certifications may vary by state.
