Job Description

Lead and manage the efficient operation of our kitchen stewarding staff. Responsibilities include training staff, ensuring product availability for all restaurant and banquet items, and directing proper sanitation and organization of kitchen facilities and equipment. Maintain a safe working environment for staff. Conduct daily meetings with kitchen steward and warewasher staff to discuss operational concerns, enforce standards, and foster teamwork and cleanliness among associates. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced kitchen environment. Proficiency in using kitchen equipment and adherence to organization and sanitation guidelines are essential.

Responsibilities

  1. Training staff and motivating them to maintain high kitchen morale
  2. Ensuring product availability for outlets, banquets, and IRD
  3. Ensuring proper sanitation of all kitchen facilities and equipment
  4. Maintaining all food prep and production areas' cleanliness
  5. Conducting monthly inventory of all products
  6. Assisting in controlling food costs
  7. Assisting in producing and plating dishes
  8. Preparing and storing food items for advanced production
  9. Monitoring staff safety

Qualifications

  • Must be able to move, bend, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance
  • Must be able to stand or walk for extended periods or entire shifts
  • Requires repetitive motion
  • Must have valid Food Handler certification
  • Previous supervisory or managerial experience in a union environment is strongly preferred
  • Experience working in a fast-paced hotel kitchen is required
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English (verbal and written) with vendors, co-workers, and management
  • Ability to read and understand detailed instructions, short correspondence, and memos
