Job summary

Fort Detrick Army NAF is seeking a Food Service Assistant to support CACFP compliance and meal preparation in a kitchen setting. You will perform a range of cooking tasks, from cleaning and peeling to grilling and baking, following standard recipes.

You will collaborate with Food and Nutrition Specialists to prepare menus, submit food orders, and assist with on-the-job training of staff and youth programs, while adhering to risk management procedures.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 months of related work experience with professional kitchen equipment.
• Ability to communicate in English (verbal and written).
• Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs routinely.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning and implementing a CACFP food program.
• Prepare and cook a variety of foods following standard recipes.
• Work with Food and Nutrition Specialists to prepare menus and submit orders.
• Provide on-the-job training to kitchen staff and youth programs.
• Follow risk management procedures.
