Job summary

Hiller Companies is hiring a Fire Suppression Technician focused on hoods and extinguishers in the San Diego area. You will inspect, maintain, and service kitchen suppression systems and fire extinguishers to meet industry standards, ensuring safety for customers and properties.

Responsibilities include on-site inspections, parts replacement, equipment testing, and instruction to customers while maintaining accurate service records.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in fire protection preferred.
• CalFire Fire Extinguisher License required.
• Prior experience in extinguisher inspection, maintenance, and repair.
• Prior hood system inspection, maintenance, and repair experience is required.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand and power tools.

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine inspections of extinguishers and kitchen hoods to ensure compliance with codes and standards.
• Perform maintenance, including disassembly, cleaning, and reassembly of extinguishers and hood systems.
• Inspect and replace parts such as valves, hoses, nozzles, seals, and detection lines as needed.
• Recharge extinguishers and pressurize systems to recommended levels per procedures.
• Install and service brackets, nozzles, signage, and related safety equipment.
