+ We have an opening for on call KITCHEN ASSISTANT positions.

+ Location: CxRA - 33 51 62nd Street, Woodside, NY 11377. Note: online applications accepted only.

+ Schedule: On call schedule. Thursday through Friday, hours may vary. More details upon interview.

+ Requirement: 3 to 5 years of previous culinary experience is preferred.

+ Perks: Shift meals and willing to train!

+ Pay Range: $23.00 per hour to $30.00 per hour.

Job Summary

Summary: Learns to assist in the preparation and cooking of various food items prior to being considered a qualified, skilled cook. Maintains food safety and sanitation standards in the preparation and kitchen areas.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Learns to read menu to estimate food requirements. Orders food from supplier or procures it from storage.
2. Prepares and cooks food in accordance with company production records and standardized recipes.
3. Learns to adjust thermostat controls to regulate temperature of ovens, broilers, grills, roasters and steam kettles.
4. Helps measure and mix ingredients according to recipes using a variety of kitchen utensils and equipment.
5. Bakes, roasts, broils and steams meats, fish, vegetables and other foods under guidance.
6. Tests food by tasting, smelling and piercing to determine that it is cooked.
7. Carves meat, portions food on serving plates, and adds gravies, sauces and garnishes to fill orders as directed.
8. Washes, peels, cuts and shreds fruits and vegetables.
9. Butchers chicken, fish and shellfish as directed.
10. Bakes bread, rolls, cakes and pastry as course of instruction permits.
11. Maintains work area and equipment. Follows principles of sanitation and safety in handling food and equipment.
12. Interacts with customers and coworkers in a courteous, efficient and friendly manner.
13. Ensures compliance with company service standards and inventory and cash control procedures.
14. Performs other duties as assigned.
