Job summary

Corewell Health seeks a part-time healthcare interpreter to provide accurate oral interpretations for LEP patients, families, and staff across in-person, phone, and video formats. You will relay medical information, uphold ethics, and assist with onboarding and training of interns within the department.

You will maintain certifications, complete continuing education, and support other office functions as needed. The role emphasizes teamwork and cultural competence in a busy hospital setting.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 1 year of interpreting/translating experience in a health care setting.
• Certified Healthcare Interpreter (CHI) with CHI credential (180 days).
• Valid Michigan driver’s license.
• CRT-Auto Insurance certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate oral interpretations for LEP patients, families, and staff in person, by phone, and via video.
• Relay medical information between languages in line with policies and ethics.
• Assist onboarding and training of interns; mentor and shadow new staff.
• Maintain professional certification and complete required CE credits.
• Interpret over the phone or via video for long periods; walk extensively as needed.
• Maintain an assignment log and support office operations (scheduling, data entry, records).
