Corewell Health seeks a part-time healthcare interpreter to provide accurate oral interpretations for LEP patients, families, and staff across in-person, phone, and video formats. Under the direct supervision of the leadership team, the healthcare interpreter provides accurate and concise oral interpretations for spoken languages to Limited English Proficient (LEP) patients, their families, and staff in-person, over the phone, and via video conferencing throughout the hospital and clinics. The role ensures effective communication by relaying medical information between English and other languages in accordance with organizational policies, national standards, and the NCIHC code of ethics. The interpreter also assists with on-the-job training and mentoring of interns, explains hospital resources and protocols, makes appropriate referrals, and serves as a cultural and linguistic resource to both patients and providers. Duties are performed in a spirit of teamwork and cooperation, with additional responsibilities as required to support the department.
