Job summary

Wellpoint Care Network in Milwaukee, WI seeks a Voluntary & Long-Term Kinship Care Specialist to manage kinship applications, conduct home visits, and process background checks in a timely manner.

The role requires an Associate’s Degree (Bachelor’s preferred), 3+ years in social services with families, crisis intervention experience, and strong interpersonal skills. Valid Wisconsin license and reliable transportation are required.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree is required; Bachelor’s Degree or higher is preferred.
• Minimum of three years of experience with children and families in social services/foster care.
• Crisis intervention experience.
• Knowledge of community resources.
• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills with diverse backgrounds.
• Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
• Proficient in computer software; familiarity with MS Office, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and ADP.
• Honest, dependable, and able to meet deadlines; self-motivated and independent work.
• Valid Wisconsin Driver’s License or occupational license, reliable transportation and insurance.

Responsibilities

• Applications Processing: review and process kinship applications within 7 days; manage background checks.
• Information Management: create kinship eligibility entries in eWISACWIS and maintain tracking.
• Data entry and document uploads: input results into eWISACWIS and attach forms.
• Client Assessment: conduct home visits within 14 days and complete Needs Assessments.
• Engagement and referrals: provide welcome packets and connect caregivers with services as needed.
• Professionalism: maintain teamwork, adapt to changes, and adhere to codes of conduct.
• Agency Engagement: promote trauma-informed care and organizational missions in daily work.
