Job summary

Wellpoint Care Network seeks a Family Preservation Specialist to improve family functioning through evidence-based assessments and in-home services within our Child Welfare programs. You will provide direct services, coaching, mentoring, and education to parents involved in supervised interactions, parenting skills, and life skills support.

Qualified candidates will have a bachelor's degree in a related field, 3+ years in child welfare or social services, and a valid Wisconsin driver's license.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Services/Social Work or related field required.
• At least three years’ work experience in child welfare or social service setting.
• Experience in child welfare settings and in-home work preferred.
• Ability to lift and carry young children and car seats.
• Wisconsin Driver’s License or occupational license, reliable transportation and insurance required.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes assessment information to establish relevant, strengths-oriented family goals aligned with primary goals of child safety and improved family functioning.
• Delivers high-quality direct services including support, guidance, visit coaching, mentoring, and education for parents receiving supervised family interaction sessions and related services.
• Facilitates families’ connections to necessary community services as needs arise or identified as risks.
• Provides updates on family progress to staffing and planning meetings (e.g., permanency staffing, 45-day staffing, family team meetings).
• Facilitates ongoing conversations with parents to identify informal supports to move toward a family-like setting with supervision of the visit from natural supports.
• Advocates for the needs and interests of families and maintains professional relationships with team members.
