Job summary

Loudoun County Public Schools is seeking an dedicated teacher aide to support instructional activities and behavior management in a classroom setting. The role involves preparing materials, assisting students with skill development, and coordinating with the teaching team to implement plans.

You will also assist with clerical tasks, supervise students during transitions, and help with personal care needs as required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma and experience as a teacher aide or working with children.
• Ability to follow lesson plans prepared by teachers; record data and describe student progress.
• Ability to take initiative in recognizing needs and meeting them.
• Physical ability to lift, position, and assist students as required.
• Ability to learn to perform individual medical procedures when necessary.
• Ability to operate standard office equipment and video equipment.
• Good human relations and communications skills; patience and flexibility.

Responsibilities

• Provides individual and group instruction on activities as instructed; demonstrates and assists students with skill development; monitors art project programs.
• Implements behavior modification plans and supervises learning centers; monitors recess and lunch periods.
• Prepares the classroom and organizes room and materials; records attendance; sets up AV equipment.
• Works with speech therapist to practice sounds, vocabulary, and syntax; reads to students and asks questions to stimulate language development.
• Performs clerical tasks such as filing and photocopying; arranges field trips.
• Performs related work as required.
