Job summary

Loudoun County Public Schools in Leesburg, VA is seeking a dedicated teaching assistant to support a classroom under the supervision of the teacher. You will help deliver instructional activities, manage behavior, prepare materials, and assist with art, group work, and audio-visual equipment.

The role requires a high school diploma and experience with children, the ability to follow lesson plans, lift and help students, and readiness to learn basic medical procedures if needed.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school and experience as a teacher aide or working with children.
• Ability to follow lesson plans prepared by teachers; record data and describe student progress.
• Ability to lift, position, and assist students as required.
• Ability to learn to perform individual medical procedures when necessary.

Responsibilities

• Provides individual and group instruction on activities as instructed; demonstrates and assists students with skill development and monitors art project programs.
• Implements behavior modification plans and provides discipline in the absence of the teacher; supervises learning centers and participates in classroom activities.
• Prepares the classroom and helps settle the students by organizing the room and materials, assisting students off the bus, recording attendance.
• Sets up and operates audio-visual equipment such as projectors and video cameras.
• Reads to students and asks questions to stimulate language development.
• Performs clerical tasks such as filing and photocopying; makes arrangements for field trips.
