Responsibilities
  1. Meet and instruct assigned classes at designated locations and times.
  2. Plan a program of study tailored to meet students' individual needs, interests, and abilities.
  3. Create a classroom environment conducive to learning, appropriate to students' maturity and interests.
  4. Guide the learning process to achieve district curriculum goals, establishing and communicating clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects.
  5. Prepare for classes and show evidence of preparation upon request.
  6. Employ various instructional techniques and media suited to the physical location and student capabilities.
  7. Implement the district's educational philosophy, goals, and performance expectations through instruction and actions.
  8. Assess student progress regularly, provide reports, and communicate with parents as needed.
  9. Maintain accurate records as required by law and policy.
  10. Diagnose learning challenges, seeking district specialist assistance when necessary.
  11. Ensure safety precautions to protect students, equipment, and facilities.
  12. Follow the school's code of conduct, develop and enforce classroom rules fairly.
  13. Supervise and evaluate paraprofessional assignments.
  14. Engage in ongoing professional development to meet district and personal growth goals.
  15. Participate actively in the teacher evaluation process.
  16. Attend district and building meetings and school-sponsored activities.
  17. Contribute to district decisions on budget, facilities, and curriculum.
  18. Strive for continuous professional improvement.
Qualifications
  • Highly qualified with competency in the content area.
  • Appropriate educator license (Early Childhood) and grade level (PreK-2) licensure from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
  • Bachelor's Degree with appropriate license, or
  • Master's Degree with preferred or expected licensure within 5 years.
