Responsibilities
- Meet and instruct assigned classes at designated locations and times.
- Plan a program of study tailored to meet students' individual needs, interests, and abilities.
- Create a classroom environment conducive to learning, appropriate to students' maturity and interests.
- Guide the learning process to achieve district curriculum goals, establishing and communicating clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects.
- Prepare for classes and show evidence of preparation upon request.
- Employ various instructional techniques and media suited to the physical location and student capabilities.
- Implement the district's educational philosophy, goals, and performance expectations through instruction and actions.
- Assess student progress regularly, provide reports, and communicate with parents as needed.
- Maintain accurate records as required by law and policy.
- Diagnose learning challenges, seeking district specialist assistance when necessary.
- Ensure safety precautions to protect students, equipment, and facilities.
- Follow the school's code of conduct, develop and enforce classroom rules fairly.
- Supervise and evaluate paraprofessional assignments.
- Engage in ongoing professional development to meet district and personal growth goals.
- Participate actively in the teacher evaluation process.
- Attend district and building meetings and school-sponsored activities.
- Contribute to district decisions on budget, facilities, and curriculum.
- Strive for continuous professional improvement.
Qualifications
- Highly qualified with competency in the content area.
- Appropriate educator license (Early Childhood) and grade level (PreK-2) licensure from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
- Bachelor's Degree with appropriate license, or
- Master's Degree with preferred or expected licensure within 5 years.
