Position Overview

The Pre-Kindergarten Teacher is responsible for developing a cohesive teaching team, coordinating the curriculum, and managing the day-to-day operational activities of the classroom for 4 and 5 year-olds. Teachers must understand children's cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development to ensure a safe and stimulating environment where children are actively engaged and encouraged to succeed. The teacher must communicate effectively with children and adults, guide teacher assistants, and address parental concerns.

Details

Full-Time Position: 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM (including a one-hour break)

Duties

• Prepare children academically, socially, and emotionally for kindergarten.
• Coordinate and implement educational curriculum based on developmentally appropriate practices and early learning standards.
• Lead by example; encourage team success through modeling and coaching.
• Plan and execute age-appropriate activities to promote social, cognitive, and emotional growth.
• Maintain communication with parents through discussions, reports, and conferences.
• Ensure compliance with center policies and state regulations.
• Maintain a healthy, safe, and clean classroom environment.
• Supervise teacher assistants and volunteers to ensure adherence to activities and safety standards.
• Keep accurate records and files.
• Engage in ongoing professional development.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of professional child care experience.
• Strong communication skills and basic computer proficiency.
• High energy, teamwork skills, and the ability to work well with staff, children, and parents.
• Understanding of child development.
• Must pass background checks and health screening.
• Ability to perform physical activities such as walking, kneeling, bending, and handling objects.
• Visual acuity, including color perception, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
• Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Nice To Have

• Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification.
