Job summary

Federal Way Public Schools in Washington state is seeking a Paraeducator for Silver Lake Elementary to support kindergarten scholars in literacy and mathematics under the supervision of a certified teacher.

You will assist with one-on-one and small group activities, help prepare the classroom for learning, and maintain records of scholar progress while promoting a positive, safe environment during lunch and transitions.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• AA degree, OR 48 college-level credits or 72 quarter credits, OR state paraeducator assessment test.
• Proficient in basic spelling, math and grammar.

Responsibilities

• Assist students with meeting academic goals under the supervisor of the certified teacher.
• Facilitate one-on-one and small group literacy and numeracy activities.
• Collaborate with certificated staff on scholar learning goals.
• Maintain records of scholar progress toward goals.
• Develop a positive rapport with students and staff.
• Assist teacher in preparing the classroom for academics.
• Report questions or concerns to the immediate supervisor.
• Supervise scholars during lunch, recess, and transitions.
• Attend 4-5 district trainings annually.
• Assist substitute teacher with classroom information.
