Job summary

Newton County Schools is seeking an Instructional Paraprofessional to support instructional activities under the supervision of the principal and assigned teacher. The position requires an associate degree or college hours plus a valid paraprofessional certificate, plus strong communication and organizational skills.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or 60 semester hours (or 90 quarter hours) plus HS diploma equivalency.
• Valid Paraprofessional Certificate is required.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
• Good time management and organizational abilities are expected.

Responsibilities

• Work with individual and small groups to provide interventions or enrichment.
• Assist the teacher in implementing strategies for reinforcing material for students.
• Assist with behavior support plans for individual students.
• Assist with supervision of students during daily activities.
• Notify the teacher about problems or special information concerning students.
• Serve as the primary resource for substitutes in the teacher's absence.
• Help review student responses on assignments and perform necessary clerical tasks.
• Prepare instructional materials, centers, manipulatives, and bulletin boards.
• Assist with ordering and inventory of classroom materials.
• Maintain confidentiality of school information related to students and staff.
