Job summary

Newton County Schools is seeking a Paraprofessional to support instructional staff in classroom settings. You will work with individuals or small groups under the supervision of the teacher and principal to reinforce lessons and manage classroom tasks.

The role requires an associate degree or higher (or a diploma with the paraprofessional test) and a valid paraprofessional certificate, plus strong communication and organizational skills. Training workshops and confidentiality are part of the job.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree or two years (60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours) of college OR HS diploma/GED with successful completion of the Georgia Paraprofessional Assessment Certification Test.
• Valid Paraprofessional Certificate.
• Be able to work well with adults and students, and possess good communication skills.
• Be well organized and have good time management skills.

Responsibilities

• Work with individual and/or small groups to provide intervention or enrichment activities.
• Assist the teacher in reinforcing material or skills based on student needs.
• Assist with behavioral support strategies and documenting them.
• Supervise students and alert the teacher to any problems.
• Serve as information source for substitutes in absence of the regular teacher.
• Assist with clerical tasks and preparation of instructional materials.
• Assist in ordering and inventory of classroom equipment and materials.
• Maintain confidentiality of student and staff information.
• Attend meetings and participate in required trainings.
