Job summary

Newton County Schools seeks an Instructional Paraprofessional to support teachers and students in daily classroom activities, under direct supervision of the assigned teacher and principal. Responsibilities include assisting with targeted interventions and classroom setup.

The role requires strong organizational skills, effective communication, and the ability to lift and move materials as needed; candidates must meet Georgia paraprofessional requirements and maintain confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree or two years of college OR HS diploma/GED with Georgia Paraprofessional test.
• Valid Paraprofessional Certificate.
• Ability to work with adults and students with good communication skills.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.

Responsibilities

• Work with individual and/or small groups of students to provide intervention or enrichment activities as directed by the teacher.
• Assist the teacher in implementing strategies to reinforce material based on students’ needs.
• Assist with behavioral strategies and documenting progress for individual students.
• Supervise students and alert the teacher to any problems or important information.
• Serve as a resource for substitutes and support staff in the absence of the regular teacher.
• Assist with clerical tasks and preparation of instructional materials.
• Maintain confidentiality of all school information concerning students and staff.
• Attend faculty and school meetings as required and maintain paraprofessional licensure as required.

Education

Associate’s Degree or two years (60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours) of college OR HS diploma/GED with successful completion of the Georgia Paraprofessional Assessment Certification Test.
