Newton County Schools seeks an Instructional Paraprofessional to work under the supervision of a teacher and principal. The role involves supporting students with interventions, preparing materials, and handling light to moderate lifting, with a requirement to stand or walk for extended periods.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree or two years of college, or HS diploma/GED with Paraprofessional Assessment Certification Test.
• Valid Paraprofessional Certificate.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Work with individual and/or small groups of students to provide intervention or enrichment activities assigned by the teacher.
• Assist the teacher in implementing strategies to reinforce material based on individual needs.
• Assist with behavioral strategies and documentation for individual students.
• Supervise students as needed.
• Notify the teacher of any problems or information about students.
• Serve as main info resource for substitute teachers in absence of regular teacher.
• Review student responses on assignments without recording grades.
• Assist with clerical tasks as directed by the teacher.
• Prepare instructional materials, centers, manipulatives, and displays for instruction.
• Help order and inventory classroom equipment and materials.
• Participate in required training workshops.
• Maintain confidentiality of all student and school information.
• Attend faculty and other required meetings.
• Maintain paraprofessional license as required by the Professional Standards Commission.
• Demonstrate positive working relationships with others.
• Be able to lift etc. light to heavy and stand for extended periods (minimum six hours).
• Assist with classroom housekeeping and duty assignments (car rider, bus, lunchroom).
• Report to work regularly and promptly.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal.
