Job summary

AERRC in Alaska is hiring a Kindergarten Aide to support classroom teachers with day-to-day student functions and smooth transitions into the school environment. The role supports a 7-hour workday during a 9-month work year, under the ESSA bargaining unit guidelines.

The starting hourly rate for Grade 5 is $20.13–$22.51 DOE, with internal rates governed by the ESSA Negotiated Agreement. This position offers a benefits package typical of educational support staff.

Qualifications

• Must meet one of three qualifications and/or complete ParaProfessional Assessment within four months.
• Record-keeping ability and plan implementation experience.
• Proficient English oral and written communication.
• Ability to work with students and staff as a team.

Job Summary:

The Kindergarten aide provides assistance to the kindergarten classroom teachers in supporting students' day-to-day functions to ensure a smooth transition of students to the educational environment.

New Hire Starting Hourly Rate: Grade 5: $20.13 - $22.51 DOE

Internal Hourly Rate: Determined by the ESSA Negotiated Agreement

Work Day: 7hours per day

Work Year: 9 months

Bargaining Unit: Education Support Staff Association (ESSA)

Job Qualifications/Requirements (please review job description for qualifications and duties of the position):

1. Must meet one of the three qualifications: a. High school diploma, or equivalent, and have either completed or the ability to complete the ParaProfessional Assessment within four (4) months of hire;or b. Associate's degree or higher;or c. Completion of two years of higher education (at least 48 semester hours) or the equivalent.


2. Work experience demonstrating an ability to maintain accurate records and implement plans


3. Proven proficiency in oral and written communication skills in English.


4. Ability to relate and work successfully with students and adults and ability to work as a team in developing and delivering academic programs for students.


5. Demonstrated ability to be patient with young children and their developmental needs.
