Job summary

Sylvania seeks a Kindergarten aide in Fairbanks, AK to assist classroom teachers with daily student activities and smooth transitions into the educational setting. The role supports record-keeping, plan implementation, and collaboration with staff while engaging with students across ages.

Starting hourly rate is $20.13–$22.51 DOE, 7 hours per day, 9 months per year. Benefits include paid holidays, sick/personal leave, medical/dental/vision, and retirement (PERS).

Qualifications

• Must meet one of the three qualifications: HS diploma or equivalent and complete ParaProfessional Assessment within four months; or Associate's degree or higher; or two years of higher education (48 semester hours) or equivalent.
• Experience maintaining accurate records and implementing plans.
• Proven proficiency in oral and written English; ability to relate and work with students and adults; teamwork to develop and deliver academic programs; patient with young children.

Job description

Job Summary: The Kindergarten aide provides assistance to the kindergarten classroom teachers in supporting students' day-to-day functions to ensure a smooth transition of students to the educational environment.

New Hire Starting Hourly Rate: Grade 5: $20.13 - $22.51 DOE

Internal Hourly Rate: Determined by the ESSA Negotiated Agreement

Work Day: 7 hours per day

Work Year: 9 months

Bargaining Unit: Education Support Staff Association (ESSA)

Job Qualifications/Requirements (please review job description for qualifications and duties of the position):

1. Must meet one of the three qualifications:
   a. High school diploma, or equivalent, and have either completed or the ability to complete the ParaProfessional Assessment within four (4) months of hire;or
   b. Associate's degree or higher;or
   c. Completion of two years of higher education (at least 48 semester hours) or the equivalent.
2. Work experience demonstrating an ability to maintain accurate records and implement plans
3. Proven proficiency in oral and written communication skills in English.
4. Ability to relate and work successfully with students and adults and ability to work as a team in developing and delivering academic programs for students.
5. Demonstrated ability to be patient with young children and their developmental needs.
