Job summary

The City of Redmond is seeking a part‑time Recreation Specialist for the Kid Zone at the Redmond Senior and Community Center. You will supervise, plan activities, and engage with children aged 5–12 in a fast‑paced, community recreation setting.

Hours are limited to 29 per week with morning, evening, and weekend shifts; a strong emphasis on safety, inclusion, and customer service is required. A background check and First Aid/ CPR within two months are expected.

Qualifications

• Background check will be required.
• Experience in recreation activities for children is preferred.
• Must be enthusiastic, energetic, and able to engage kids ages 5–12.

Responsibilities

• Supervise children in the drop-in Kid Zone.
• Plan and lead arts, crafts, science, sports, and storytelling activities.
• Engage with children and families in a positive, safe manner.
• Foster teamwork and social skills among kids.
• Communicate with parents/guardians about activities and upcoming events.
• Assist in seasonal program planning and lead activities.
• Provide first aid as needed per guidelines and ensure safety of participants.
