Job summary

Salina Family YMCA Inc. is seeking a Kid's Gym Staff member to create a nurturing and engaging atmosphere for children participating in YMCA activities. You will ensure each child and parent are treated with care, dignity, and respect while supporting the YMCA Kids Gym philosophy.

Responsibilities include guiding behavior with positive discipline, providing safe play materials, and actively supporting children's physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development through positive interactions.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children in a group setting preferred.
• Ability to provide positive guidance and discipline.
• Patience, empathy, and a genuine love for working with children.
• Commitment to upholding YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.

Responsibilities

• Provide a safe, fun, and welcoming environment for children during YMCA activities.
• Support children’s physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development through positive interactions.
• Treat each child and parent with care, dignity, and respect at all times.
• Guide and manage children’s behavior using positive discipline techniques.
• Provide adequate materials and toys appropriate for the number of children in care.
• Offer positive individual attention to each child to encourage engagement and growth.
• Redirect negative behaviors in a constructive and supportive manner.
• Reinforce and encourage children’s positive behaviors consistently.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe play environment.
