Job summary

The Greater Austin YMCA is hiring a Kids Play Team Member to create a safe, welcoming space for children ages 6 weeks to 12 years. You will lead age-appropriate activities and support a curriculum that nurtures social, physical, spiritual, and cognitive development.

You will meet each child where they are—on the floor to play, encouraging independence, or comforting when needed—while upholding YMCA values and ensuring a positive, engaging environment for families in Austin.

Qualifications

• Minimum age of 16 years.
• Preferred bilingual proficiency in Spanish/English (not required).
• Experience in childcare is advantageous.
• Experience with children aged 8 weeks to 12 years.
• First Aid, CPR/AED, and Emergency Oxygen certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead engaging, hands-on activities for children and support development.
• Foster teamwork through group games and collaborative projects.
• Maintain a safe, welcoming environment and supervise children.
• Build positive relationships with children and families; greet by name.
• Engage with children at their level and encourage exploration and independence.
• Keep spaces clean, organized, and safe; follow safety standards.
