Job Purpose

Construction Foremen are vital to success, acting as the company's face while ensuring on-site activities, including worker management, subcontractors, and material deliveries, stay on schedule. They lead small teams on projects ranging from equipment installation to operating room renovations, requiring effective planning, communication, and debriefing. Foremen must also handle client interactions and administrative tasks to foster trust and repeat business.

Key Attributes

Foremen must be construction experts, able to lead diverse teams, uphold high standards of quality, and promote teamwork. Essential qualities include:

• Experience and knowledge of the construction industry
• Ability to read blueprints and drawings
• Understanding of building codes related to electrical, fire suppression, and medical gas systems
• Pre-project preparation and planning
• Clear communication with team and clients
• Managing changes per project priorities (client, efficiency, safety)
• Providing regular updates to clients
• Conducting debriefs to improve processes

Qualifications

Education

• High School diploma; college degree preferred

• 3+ years in leadership roles
• Willingness to travel extensively (80% or more)
• Ability to work with equipment and tools
• Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and low-voltage systems
• Competence in reading plans and scope of work
• Ability to adapt to scope changes and request change orders
• Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed
• Physical ability to work in confined spaces, crouched or kneeling, and lift up to 70 pounds
