DESCRIPTION

Key Entry Operators perform the recording of accounting, statistical, and other data by operation of an alphabetic or numeric key entry machine; verify data; and perform other related duties as required. This position will require the ability to read, write, and follow oral and written instructions. This position will support the mail processors and student employees, but does not require prior knowledge of mail processing rules or policies.

  • Accurately key enters information from incoming packages into computer; Key enters required data: Name of person, housing location, box number
  • Retrieves information from computer system to verify receipt of a package
  • Utilize computer to lookup package inquiries and poorly addressed items
  • Affix delivery label on each package.
  • Unloads and sorts pre-processed and processed materials to designated areas
  • Assists student employees with key entry of package process
  • Assists Student Mail Operations Supervisor with special projects
  • Assists Student Mail Operations with Support Tickets/Emails
  • Assists Student Mail Operations with Research, Returns, and Forwarding for packages and letter mail
  • Assists Student Mail Operations with letter mail sorting, sequencing, and delivering.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Looking for candidates who have experience in a mailroom setting and experience working with college students and professional staff.
  • Must have a CA Driver's License with a good driving record.

This position has been identified as a Mandated Reporter pursuant to the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act (CANRA) and Requires immediate reporting of physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, or neglect of anyone under the age of 18. It is the responsibility of the Mandated Reporter to ensure that they obtain proper training in order to fulfill their reporting responsibilities as Required by the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and University policy, and to complete and submit the Required reports to the UC San Diego Police Department without delay.
