Job description

Key Account Manager, Nashville, TN | Hybrid | $100,000 base, $160,000 on target

Precision Sales Recruiting is hiring on behalf of a private equity-backed platform in the overhead and garage door industry. Their Tennessee operating company is the market share leader in Nashville, has been serving the market for over 30 years, and holds exclusive contracts with the three largest homebuilders in the region.

This is a senior individual contributor seat, and it is a real one. You will take over an established $7 million book of homebuilder and general contractor relationships and own it outright. Roughly 70 percent of the job is protecting and growing those accounts. The other 30 percent is opening new builders and contractors across the market.

Why this seat
  • You inherit relationships, not a territory map. These are long-standing exclusive accounts with the largest builders in Nashville, and you become their single point of contact.
  • Best of both worlds ownership. The local brand has a 30-year reputation and a team where most employees have been there 15 years or more. Behind it sits a private equity platform with the capital, technology, and expansion plans of a much larger organization.
  • Real growth trajectory. The platform doubled the operating company's headcount in 14 months, opened two new offices, and has another opening soon.
  • Bonus scales with the business. Your quarterly bonus is a derivative of the growth target, and that target rises as the platform expands into new markets. Last year's target was $420,000 and the team delivered $570,000.
  • Reports directly to the company president. You will not be layered.
What you will do
  • Own the existing book of homebuilder and general contractor accounts as the primary relationship holder
  • Quarterback internal departments so projects, installs, and service run clean for the customer
  • Prospect and open new builder and contractor accounts across the Nashville market
  • Grow revenue against a $600,000 year-one growth target, from existing accounts, new accounts, or both
  • Operate at a senior level with builder executives and decision makers
What you need
  • 5 or more years of B2B sales experience
  • Experience selling to general contractors. This is the hard requirement, because the construction sales cycle, the buying process, and the decision makers are the part that cannot be taught quickly.
  • Homebuilder relationships specifically are strongly preferred
  • Located within about 90 minutes of Nolensville, TN, or willing to relocate
  • Senior-level self-management. Nobody is going to build your calendar for you.

Backgrounds that fit Garage and overhead door is ideal but not required. Anyone selling into builders and general contractors translates well: commercial roofing, windows and doors, paint and coatings, concrete, and building materials distribution. The product side is teachable. The builder relationship side is not.

Onboarding The first 30 days are ride-alongs with technicians and sales, then shadowing the person currently holding these relationships. Days 30 to 60 are a structured handoff where you are introduced into the accounts. At 60 days you own them, and that is when prospecting and selling begin. No selling is expected in the first 60 days.

Schedule Hybrid. Expect five days a week in the Nolensville office for the first two to three months while you learn the business, moving to roughly three days in office after that. Standard business hours, 8 to 5. Builders work regular hours, so this is not an evenings-and-weekends sales job.

Compensation and benefits
  • Quarterly bonus: $15,000 per quarter at target, $160,000 on target total
  • Medical, dental, and vision
  • 401(k) with 3 percent match
  • 10 days PTO plus 5 sick days in year one
