The Salvation Army in Tuscaloosa, AL is seeking a dedicated coordinator for kettle fundraising operations. You will recruit and supervise bell ringing staff and volunteers, manage schedules, and ensure all sites are covered efficiently.

You will drive to kettle locations, handle deposits, and maintain records of daily income while coordinating with community leaders. Valid driver’s license required, prior kettle experience preferred.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or G.E.D. required.
  • One year experience with kettle fundraising preferred.
  • Equivalent training/experience may qualify.

Responsibilities

  • Interviews, recruits, screens and selects bell ringing staff and volunteers to cover sites.
  • Plans, schedules, and assigns work; trains staff; ensures accuracy and policy compliance.
  • Maintains contact with staff/volunteers; addresses questions and concerns.
  • Prepares and maintains records and databases for kettle income; reports status.
  • Plans, coordinates, and prepares special events and recognitions.
  • Meets with community leaders to discuss Salvation Army needs.
  • Drives Salvation Army vehicle(s) to kettle locations and handles deposits.
  • Assists with counting, recording and depositing kettle funds.

Job Details: Job Location: ALM-Tuscaloosa Al Corps - Tuscaloosa, AL 35404, Salary Range: $15.00 Hourly

Key Responsibilities:
  • Interviews, recruits, screens and selection of bell ringing staff and volunteers ensuring all sites are covered effectively.
  • Plans, schedules, and assigns work of staff and volunteers; instructs in proper methods and procedures; checks and approves work in progress and upon completion to ensure accuracy and completeness as well as compliance with Salvation Army policies and procedures.
  • Maintains contact with staff and volunteers throughout their service; answers questions, concerns or problems; recognizes workers through correspondence by mail, in person or by phone.
  • Prepares and maintains up-to-date records and databases for daily kettle income information; prepares reports regarding the status of the kettle program; provides staff and volunteers with documentation of the hours worked.
  • Plans, coordinates, and prepares special events; prepares plaques and certificates of recognition; prepares and maintains special event records for future reference.
  • Meets with community leaders and organizations and discusses Salvation Army needs.
  • Drives Salvation Army vehicle(s) to deliver and collect kettles and supplies to kettle locations and workers.
  • Assists with counting, recording and depositing of kettle funds.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
  • Ability to meet attendance requirements.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.
  • Duties are usually performed seated. Sitting may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of standing or walking.
  • Duties include extensive driving to and from kettle locations 50-75% of work time.
  • Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting and carrying equipment (less than 40 lbs.) 5-10% of work time.
  • Work is performed in and out of the office and in a wide variety of weather conditions. Dressing appropriately is important for remaining safe and comfortable.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR IN YOU: : Education and Experience:
  • High School or G.E.D., and
  • one year experience working with kettle fund raising programs preferred, or
  • any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Valid Driver’s License
