Job summary

Moravian Academy’s Swain Campus in Allentown, PA is seeking a Health & Physical Education Teacher for Kindergarten through 8th grade. You will build physical literacy, promote wellness, and guide students through age-appropriate conversations about health, identity, and decision-making.

You will collaborate with school counselors and learning support staff to create inclusive, student-centered lessons and foster strong communication with families and interdisciplinary colleagues.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Health Education, Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience teaching health and/or physical education to elementary or middle school-aged students.
• Deep understanding of youth physical, social, and emotional development.
• An inclusive, student-centered teaching philosophy — you make every student feel capable.
• Strong communication skills with students, families, and interdisciplinary colleagues.
• Preferred: Master's degree; PA Department of Education certification in Health & PE.
• Preferred: Coaching experience and/or background in athletic program coordination.
• Required: Pennsylvania Act 34, Act 151, and Act 114 clearances prior to hire.

Responsibilities

Moravian Academy's Swain Campus is searching for a Health & Physical Education Teacher who understands the importance of health and physical education in a student's life, with the goal of shaping lifelong habits, resilience, and self-belief. In the gym, on the field, and in the health classroom, you'll meet students exactly where they are and challenge them to go further than they thought possible.

This role asks you to do two things simultaneously: build physical literacy and tend to the whole person. Partnership with health colleagues to develop curriculum that will guide middle school students through honest, age-appropriate conversations about wellness, identity, and decision-making. Your PE classes will be dynamic, inclusive environments where fitness is celebrated, teamwork is taught by doing, and no student sits on the sidelines, literally or figuratively.
