Job summary

KACE is seeking a Linguist to perform real-time transcriptions from K’iche to English, analyze slang terms, and extract pertinent information for law enforcement. You will transcribe source documents and recordings, and produce court-ready transcripts following required formats.

Responsibilities include maintaining a voice library, contributing to slang lists, and meeting productivity targets using government equipment. Strong language skills and attention to accuracy are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and 3 years’ experience in professional setting OR Associate degree and 5 years’ experience OR High School Diploma and 7 years’ experience.
• Minimum of 1 year transcription experience in the required language.
• U.S. citizenship or legal permanent residency required.
• Strong command of source language colloquial terms; SMS language and social media terms knowledge.
• Excellent verbal and written skills in the target language; proper grammar, punctuation and spelling.

Responsibilities

• Listen to oral intercepts/audio recordings in K’iche and provide transcripts and summaries.
• Transcribe source documents and recordings with court-ready formatting.
• Relate pertinent information to the Client and law enforcement.
• Maintain a master slang list and a voice library.
• Transcribe 18–22 minutes of conversation per 8-hour day.
• Use government-provided software/equipment (JSI voice box, Pen-link, Comverse, etc.).
• Maintain daily productivity logs.
