Qualifications

• High School Diploma or USA equivalency
• Associate Degree or 48 College credit hours or pass an academic assessment
• Valid Texas educational aide certificate
• Six months of knowledge and skills acquired through work experience or successful completion of a training program for teacher assistants is preferred
• Demonstrated initiative and willingness to follow verbal and written instructions
• Demonstrated general knowledge of child growth/development and behavior characteristics
• Perform supportive tasks, primarily of a non-instructional nature, for a certified
• Assist teacher and students in achieving the objectives of the program or activities
• Demonstrated flexibility to cope with the challenges of a rapidly changing world
• Demonstrated willingness to remain current with the latest developments in the profession

Responsibilities

• Assist in intensified learning experiences for students in assigned area and relieve teacher of non-instructional duties
• Assist teacher in management of student arrival and departure time
• Tutor students individually or in small groups to reinforce and follow-up learning activities
• Help teacher supervise students throughout the day, inside and outside the classroom
• Assist Teacher with copying, organizing, and filing materials for distribution to students
• Help with the inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment
• Participate in staff-development training programs to improve job performance
• Participate in faculty meetings and special events as assigned
• Regular and punctual attendance at the worksite is required for this position
