Job summary

Dallas Independent School District is seeking a Part-Time Generalist Teacher Assistant for grades K-5. The role supports teachers, manages student flow, and provides non-instructional assistance throughout the school day.

Responsibilities include tutoring, classroom supervision, and helping with records, materials, and events. A Texas educational aide certificate is preferred and regular attendance is essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or USA equivalency; Associate Degree or 48 College credit hours; Pass an academic assessment recommended.
• Texas educational aide certificate is preferred.
• Demonstrated initiative and ability to follow instructions.

Responsibilities

• Assist in intensified learning experiences for students in assigned area and relieve teacher of non-instructional duties.
• Assist teacher with student arrival and departure management.
• Perform supportive non-instructional tasks for a certified teacher.
• Assist teacher and students in achieving program objectives.
• Maintain classroom discipline in teacher's absence.
• Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom.
• Tutor students individually or in small groups; reinforce learning activities.
• Supervise students in all areas including hallways, cafeteria, auditorium, gym, and playground.
• Assist in keeping administrative records and preparing required reports.
• Help copy, organize, and file materials for distribution to students.
• Assist with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
• Inform teacher of special needs or problems of individual students.
• Participate in staff development and faculty meetings as assigned.
• Assist with classroom decorations for events and holidays.
• Attend all duties and perform others as assigned.
• Maintain regular and punctual attendance at the worksite.
