Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree required.
• Enrollment in a teacher preparation program preferred.
• New York State Certification as Teaching Assistant Level I–III required.
• NY fingerprint clearance is required.

Responsibilities

• Assist the teacher in setting up and maintaining a clean and orderly classroom.
• Create and maintain bulletin board displays inside and outside the classroom.
• Manage and secure all materials in the classroom environment.
• Work with individual children or groups on instructional projects as planned.
• Use positive guidance and behavior management techniques.
• Confers with students and communicates observations to the teacher.
• Enter data in online gradebooks and support recordkeeping.
• Assume classroom responsibilities in the absence of the certified teacher.
• Promote healthy eating and maintain a safe lunchroom environment.
• Support transitions of students at arrival and dismissal.

Education
